Groom Style: Shirt Glossary

Essential Wedding Guide - glossary

FRENCH CUFFS
These cuffs do not have buttons but are folded back and fastened with cuff links. Almost all men's formalwear requires a French-cuffed shirt.

MANDARIN COLLAR
A trendy option, this shirt collar consists of a simple band around the neck with no lapels. A tie isn't worn with a mandarin collar, also called a band collar, but the top button gets a button cover.

WINGED COLLAR
Also called a stand-up collar, this is a very formal shirt collar that bands around the neck with the points of the collar folded down in the front.

SPREAD COLLAR
The band on this collar sits up higher on the neck and spreads wider in the front than a regular shirt collar. {Source}
